A Fashion Production + A Great Cause

I am so excited to be apart of Naudre’ Agency’s Fashion Show benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! I first worked with Naudre’ Agency a few years ago in their annual show benefiting another nonprofit organization. What I love about Naudre’, is how they continually give back to the community through their annual productions. I am a true believer that if you give, it shall be given back to you even more, so I know that there is much success coming their way!

This is going to be an awesome event that you do not want to miss! Click here for ticket information.

Buckles + Sequins

I admit that I am a belt junky! I found this fabulous belt at fa’brik in Richmond and paired it with a black sequin dress for some structured flare! Remember when sequins were more so associated with formal wear? I actually wore an all gold sequin dress for prom! Now you can find so many garments with sequin detailing, from tanks and t-shirts to dresses and skirts. The great thing about sequins is that you can style them for day or night!

Are you a belt junky or do you have sequins in your closet?

The Romper + A Giveaway

How cute is the romper? It’s an adult version of a childhood favorite! I paired my black romper with a pair of wedges, as my hubby and I were headed out to take the kids to see Despicable Me 2 (which was cute and funny movie by the way)! I’ve also paired this romper on a date night with pumps, kicking it up a notch!

Smokey Eye Inspired

If you don’t know already, I love makeup! I was inspired by MsRoshPosh on YouTube {here} because her makeup is oh so amazing and she’s so gorgeous!! So with that, I created this look!

I have wanted to post more makeup looks but have been struggling with the photography as shown by my first makeup post {here}! It has been tricky getting the right lighting to capture the color of the makeup. I did a decent job capturing this look!

What do you think? Do you have any tips for photographing makeup?

Cool Coral for Summer

Dress|Express, Shrug|Express, Shoes|Nine West, Necklace|Buckle

Coral is definitely a brilliant color for summer! I wore this dress {here} during the colder months and decided that it would be perfect to wear in sunny Florida while my hubby and I were vacationing! I much more prefer to wear dresses in the Summer versus shorts because I have this thing with shorts as discussed in an earlier post.

What cool colors are you feeling for summer?

Sunday Dessert – Apple Crisp

To satisfy my sweet tooth, I whipped up this quick and easy Apple Crisp dessert and served it with vanilla ice cream. You know quick and easy is just how I like it!

5 Golden Delicious Apples
5 Tablespoons of Butter
1 Box of Concord Foods Apple Crisp

Peel and core the apples. Place them into an 8×8 baking pan. Mix in 5 tbs of softened butter into the apple crisp mix. Sprinkle over the top of the apples and bake for 20-30 minutes or until apples done. Serving Size: 8×8 pan makes 9 servings

Color Combinations Revealed – Traveling the Color Wheel

When picking out something to wear, have you ever wondered what colors actually “match” or “go” together?! I have a neat little cheat sheet for you and it’s simply the color wheel! You may have heard of the color wheel if you’ve had an art class. The basic color wheel is a wheel showing the relationship between colors, consisting of primary, secondary and tertiary colors.

According to wikipedia, the typical artists’ paint or pigment color wheel includes the blue, red, and yellow primary colors. The corresponding secondary colors are green, orange, and violet. The tertiary colors are red–orange, red–violet, yellow–orange, yellow–green, blue–violet and blue–green. Mixing primary colors makes secondary colors. A primary and secondary color makes a tertiary color.

Now that you know about the color wheel, you can use it when pairing different colors together to create a look. This will allow you to go beyond your usual color combinations and maybe even be ahead of the next color combo trend! Here are some examples and it is no surprise that the colors look great together because they follow the wheel!

Primary Colors: Red-Yellow
Secondary Colors - Purple and Green
Tertiary Colors: Blue-Green

Which color combo do you like best? Which one will you try?
